This one is courtesy Financial Chronicles (run by well know newspaper Deccan Chronicles). They have word from Industry “insiders” that Airtel is planning to offer the handset between Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 and monthly subscription plan of Rs 699.
The rumoured launch date is Mid August for Vodafone and Mid September for Airtel.

Confirmed: $599 for a no-contract iPhone 3G

AT&T just made a press release which confirms that in the future they are going to sell the 3G iPhone (8GB) for $599 without a contract. The 16GB version will sell for $699.
That brings the price to approximately Rs. 24,000 for the 8GB version.
What do you think? Affordable? Better deal than the Blackberries/Treos and WinMo [...]

Airtel CEO: No subsidy on iPhone in India
